The BJC-80 features the latest Canon printing technology. Drop Modulation Technology, for example, produces sharper, richer color. Add the optional IS-12 color image scanner cartridge and your printer becomes a 360 dpi color sheet fed scanner the perfect way to add images and graphics to reports and presentations. The BJC-80 can go anywhere you need to go with its compact, lightweight design. Using its standard IrDA interface, you can print from IrDA-equipped Windows 95 and Windows 98 computers without a cable. You can even leave the power cord home—its optional rechargeable battery pack lets you print up to 200 pages.

Ink-jet printer
Typical of modem ink-jet printers, this model takes a variety of papers on a nearly straight paper path and is simple to use, but good prints need several minutes to output.

Canon BJC 85
This is a compact and lightweight printer that is entirely portable when fitted with an optional battery pack. Quality is good, considering its size, but operation is slow.

Hewlett Packard 940C
Capable of producing very good image quality, this printer is easy to use and has an unusually large paper capacity for its size and class.

Lexmark Z52
Despite their low cost, Lexmark printers can produce very acceptable image quality. Good printing speeds are also possible when using non-smudge inks.

Epson Stylus Photo 895
This printer has a built-in PCMIA card reader, and can produce very high-quality, stable prints up to A4 in size.

Hewlett Packard 1220 CPS
Capable of producing professional-quality prints to A3 size and larger, this printer has good colour control and PostScript capability.

Epson 2000P
Printing up to A3 size using pigment-based inks enables this printer to offer class-leading print longevity as well as high image quality. Operation, however, can be tricky.

Printers with card readers; some printers able to read card devices, such as CompactFlash and SmartMedia, can print directly off a card, without the need for a computer. This is convenient for basic proof-printing - to check the quality of images from a shoot - or if you repeatedly need to make prints to order, as you can store prepared files on a card and print them off as needed.
